UNSUI – ACQUA E NUVOLE

Il vento guida dolcemente le nubi nel cielo, i rivoli d'acqua scorrono soffici intorno agli ostacoli. "... il gorgoglio dell'acqua - una cresta d'onda brilla nel movimento – macchie di riflessi si spostano a vicenda sulle cime - emergono pennellate di acqua - le piante ondeggiano, piegandosi teneramente - un ballo appassionato con la luce - - un dare e avere - l'annullamento di ogni singola necessità - l'occhio del lago ci guarda, ci perfora, riempie l'universo, noi... l’acqua si guarda...”

Nell’estate del 2005 Monica von Rosen ha iniziato a scattare fotografie del lago Båven, nella regione del Sörmland svedese, sempre dalla stessa posizione. Il risultato è una serie di immagini di grandi dimensioni, stampate su tela. L'acqua ed il riflesso del cielo sono gli elementi di base di queste “Lightbilder” (immagini di luce) fotografate con la tecnica digitale. Canne e  ninfee incarnano simbolicamente la vita e morte, la bellezza e l’impermanenza.

All'interno di tutto il suo lavoro Monica von Rosen mette in pratica l'unione della realtà e dell'immaginazione, e le accomuna alle grandi mansioni dell’arte, in particolare alla fotografia. Nell'era del digitale, la fotografia sembra soltanto essere la realtà. I confini chiaramente definiti della visione del reale e dell’immaginato vengono demoliti. In considerazione di questa sfida la rappresentazione nel lavoro di Monica von Rosen che solleva, ripetutamente, il problema dei termini del dato, anche della descrizione, diventa, al presente, molto rilevante.

The wind drives clouds across the firmament, the water flows softly around obstacles.

“…water ribs rolling – a shining wave crest in motion – spots of reflection shifting on top of each other – the washed out brushstroke of water – swaying plants, tenderly bowing – a dance with the light – passionately – a give and take – revocation of every single necessity – the lake's eye looks at us, pierces us, fills the universe, us ... water sees itself…

In the summer of 2005 Monica von Rosen started to take photographs at always the same location at Lake Båven in Swedish Sörmland. A number of large-format pictures series resulted from this, printet on canvas. Water and the reflecting sky are the basic elements of these “Lichtbilder” (literally “light pictures”) photographed with the most basic digital technique. Reeds and water lilies symbolically embody life and death, beauty and transitoriness.

Within the whole of her work Monica von Rosen puts into action the union of reality and imagination, which still ranks with the great tasks of art and especially of photography. In the age of digital picture production at the latest, photography only seems to be reality. Clearly defined areas of picture, of the real and the imaginated have collapsed. In view of this challenge the representation of Monica von Rosen's work which raises, time and again, the question of the conditions of the given, also of the depiction, becomes very relevant to the present.
